Starting in east Europe, I thought about the boring experience I always have, riding in a car and thought I would travel in a different manner. I bought a hiking backpack as began my long travel towards Japan. The view was amazing, I traveled through so many countries, rain and snow. I hiked for miles and miles, finally coming to the ocean. The sun was setting over the horizon and the colors filled the sky. I took of my shoes and stepped into the cold ocean. I began swimming. I randomly come across this whale named that just happens to be able to talk. I hire him as my ride and promise to turn him back into a skunk when we get to Japan. Finally we reach the coast of Japan.

Diving into the Cenote

I step to the edge of the land, I dip the ends of my toes into the Cenote pool, I think about where I am headed and what will come of me after I have entered the underworld. Closing my eyes, I prepare to jump into the cool, clear, and peaceful water. I quickly leave the land, and jump to the dark bottom of the pool. The red and yellow light from the fire penetrating my eyes. The water turns from cool, to warm, with the uncomfortable heat of the fire.
Opening my eyes, I see what I will experience now, now that my life has left me and it is now time that I join those that have already passed away. The entire area seems to be tinted with red, as if blood was scattered throughout the air.
Reaching into my pockets, I feel around for my money. Pullingd out what feels like paper, I realize my cash is soggy from my dive into the pool. I now beieive I understand the answer to them. They were formed by the Nazca. These lines and figures were scraped into the sand with shovel-like objects. Then incredibly straight lines and curves were created by placing poles into the ground and then scraping away the rocks and dirt to reveal the light colored sand underneath. But why were the lines and shapes here? The lines are pathways for the Gods. They believed if you followed theres paths, you wojld eventually come to the Gods, so they continued to make them as far as they could, but never found the gods, and so started a new path.

Hiking the Inca Trail

The weather is very warm and humid as I start. I start walking the long path down the mountain. I met up with my friend Claire down by the Uru Bamba river. The river was flowing peacefully away from us with the cool mist splashing on our feet. I took out the coca leaves I had brought with me for us to try. We stuck them in our mouths and gagged at the strange new taste. We tried to bear to eat more of this new food, and eventually got used to it. We start to head into the mountains. They are green and luscious, with the river flowing under us. After walking for about 2 long and hot hours, we remind ourselves we still have much to go and visit the ancient ruins of the Inca. All of a sudden, Claire immediately drops out of sight. I run to where I was her last and sees her falling the rest of the way down a cliff.

Finally we landed. I grab my carry-on luggage and get into the line of people stepping off the plane. As we walk into the airport, I see the people and the culture already. We eventually find the luggage pick up thing and stepped into the humid air of Bolivia.

It is so beautiful, but very hot and sticky. We get on a taxi and start driving along the bumpy road made of pebbles. Looking out the window, mostly I just see the flat grass, dancing in the wind. Security always worries me, I mean, I'm inocent! Why would a kid like myself be bringing along a knife or something. Anyway, I got through it and I can't wait to board the plane!

I love taking off. I stare out the window smiling, all I can see are small lines (roads) on the ground, stretching farther then the horizon. I turn away from the amazing sight, position myself comfortably in my chair and open my book.

After a chapter or so, I glance back out the window, and notice a large river below us and realize we are above the Amazon river.
